Yogas in a Kundali: What They Mean

In Jyotish, a Yoga is a named combination of chart factors. Yogas are interpreted through specific rules and the wider chart, not as a stand-alone promise of an outcome.

How a Yoga is formed

A Yoga may be defined by relationships between planets, houses, signs, or lords. Different combinations have different names and conditions. Some rules consider dignity, aspects, conjunctions, or whether a planet is weakened; the exact definition can vary between texts and interpretive lineages.

A label alone is not enough to interpret a chart. Astrologers may check whether the stated conditions are actually met, how the planets function in that chart, and whether other factors modify the combination.

Avoiding absolute claims

Online descriptions sometimes present a Yoga as a guarantee of wealth, status, or a life event. Traditional practice is more nuanced, and astrologers may disagree about formation and strength. A chart combination cannot promise a result.

Astrology is a cultural and spiritual interpretive system, not a scientifically validated prediction method. Use a reading for reflection rather than as the sole basis for important decisions.
